What is a "looking for traffic" blocker?

The trust and safety team reviews ads and links 24/7. The process is quite simple, when a creator posts a link and their followers click on the link, this creator gets into what we call the Trust and Safety queue.

Essentially, it means that a member of the team checks if creators follow our media guidelines and our policies. They look for ads and make sure that ads are approved and tagged with “#ad”. They also make sure there is no incent on any account and that the content of the ads is aligned with our content guidelines.

If we can’t find the ads and links, then the account gets restricted. There are two types of restrictions:

The first type of blocker takes creators to this help center article and reminds them to update their list of social media accounts on their Plug account. If you get this blocker, please follow the best practice listed below and you should be good to go. Once a creator has read this page, the blocker will self resolve.

The second type of blocker is more restrictive. It directs our creator to open a ticket with the Trust and Safety team. If this happens to you, you will need to send us screenshots of the ads you have running on your social media accounts. The screenshots need to feature the ad itself and the name of your social media accounts.

In some rare cases, we might also disable a creator’s account if it happens too many times or if their traffic is poor.

How to avoid getting flagged for traffic:

  • Creators can add as many social media accounts to their Plug profile. Make sure it is always up to date. If you want to learn more about how to add a new social media account, click here.

  • Try to have your ads running for 12 - 24 hours. We understand that sometimes ads don’t work for your audience. If you decide to take down your ads after a couple of hours, please archive them so you can send us screenshots.

  • Look out for a follow request from @plugapp to make sure we can see your content and your ads.
